Liposuction / Liposculpture FAQ's

Which patients are suitable for liposculpture?

Patients should be within 10% of their ideal weight and they should be able to define their figure fault eg. saddle bags, tummy, buttocks.  It is not a short cut to loosing weight and is not suitable for over weight patients without any defined figure fault (unwanted bulges).

Which are the common areas treated?

Tummy, “love handles”, saddle bag deformity, inner thighs, knees and  ankles.

How permanent are the results?

Once the area is sculptured and the excess fat cells removed the remaining fat cells do not multiply to take the place of the removed cells.  The proportions of the figure therefore do not change.  If the patient puts on weight after the liposculpture the additional fat will be stored in the fat cells where ever they are.

Is it a painful operation?

Patients are stiff and a bit sore for the first few days but it is not a very painful operation because the liposculpture involves the fat under the skin and does not involve the muscle.

How long do I stay in hospital?

If only a small area is treated you may leave the hospital the same day if you wish.  However it is generally advised to stay one night in hospital.

Is it successful?

Most patients are very happy with the operation.
